Hello, my name is Sheila Jack A.D.C.B.M, and I am the owner of Happy Hounds, Newton Abbot. I am a fully qualified and experienced dog trainer and behaviourist.
I grew up with dogs and have owned, trained and competed my own dogs for the last thirty years, enjoying agility, tracking and obedience with them. Seventeen years ago I realised a life long dream of working with dogs full time and I set up Happy Hounds.
I have gained many hours of experience, caring for a variety of different breeds. This has given me the opportunity to listen to clients' problems and offer help and advice where it's needed.
I have studied Canine Psychology, Behaviour and Training and am a Certified Canine Behaviourist. I have also trained with one of the worlds leading dog trainers, John Rogerson, in a five day training, instructing and Handling course. Additionally, I have attended 'The Dog Partnership Course' in Italy with Angela Stockdale who is renound for her fantastic work with bull breeds. Here, I worked with dogs (particularly bull breeds) from ENPA rescue centre. I also regularly attend seminars which keep me up-to-date with topics involved with training and behaviour.
I am Molecare Veterinary Practices' behaviourist and attend their weekly puppy parties .
I am also a certified canine first responder so you can be sure your dog is in safe hands.
I am a member of the Wessex Working Trials Club with my young German Shepherd, Brooke. We enjoy weekly lessons in this sport as well as competing.
Rachel has completed an honours degree at Plymouth University where she studied Animal Science (Behaviour and Welfare). She is also a certified canine first responder and has completed a 5 day Training, Instructing and Handling course with John Rogerson.
Additionally, she achieved an A grade on completion of her work for Canine Health Concern. Most recently she has completed another of John Rogerson's courses; this time a 20 day course for dog trainers and behaviourists in India. These courses have involved practical, hands on experience with one of the top trainer's/behaviourist's.
Rachel does most of the dog walking, having started with me 13 years ago so she has plenty of experience dealing with a wide range of dogs as well as having her own insurance.
She has recently started an Advanced Diploma in Canine Behaviour Management - a fully accredited course.
She owns Bella, Reef, and Mae.
